nurture love.

we've got this gift of love,
but love is like a precious plant.
you can't just accept it and
leave it in the cupboard
or just think it's going to get on by itself.
you've got to keep watering it.
you've got to really look after it and nurture it.

a beautiful sight: high tide. about an hour after it was at its highest point of the year, helped out just a little by last night's rain.

took a walk along the rocky beach in vaughn, wa...saw lots of barnacles and crabs, and then spotted these kids. someone set them out to dry but since they were still alive when we walked by, i couldn't just let them dry out...

alone.

our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone.  it has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone.  and it has created the word solitude to express the glory of being alone.
