with no mantle to adorn in my little one-bedroom place, a spot to decorate required a little creativity. made the banner from fabric scraps, with removable letters (and extra flags) for seasonal changes; made the frame from a thrift-store frame and chicken wire, with the help of a staple gun and much hot glue
